About
Welcome to Spruce Goose Cafe, a local treasure nestled at 302 Airport Rd, Port Townsend, WA 98368. This charming eatery has quickly become a favorite destination for both locals and visitors alike, and it’s not hard to see why. With a delightful menu that caters to all three meals of the day, Spruce Goose Cafe offers a culinary experience that is both comforting and satisfying.
Imagine savoring fluffy French toast, hearty omelets, and stacked pancakes, all while enjoying the mesmerizing sight of private aircraft gracefully taking off and landing. The atmosphere is lively and unique, making every meal feel like an occasion. One visitor, RovingFox, couldn't help but rave about the quality and variety of the food, stating that the prices are just as appealing as the portions.
The ambiance here is enhanced by the unique location in an airport setting. As Kasia Strong highlighted, the upbeat vibe is complemented by friendly service and even a children’s play area boasting a teeter-totter airplane. Families can indulge while the little ones enjoy their own fun in a dog-friendly park—a feature that sets Spruce Goose apart from other cafes.
Weekly specials, like their famous pot roast, have earned high praise for their homely taste—truly a dish that embodies comfort food at its finest. Meanwhile, the classic biscuits and gravy has solidified its place as a beloved staple among regulars. The remarkably affordable chicken fried steak meal is another standout that Kathrynn Jacobi declared delightful and budget-friendly, demonstrating Spruce Goose's commitment to quality without breaking the bank.
Under new ownership, Spruce Goose Cafe has not only maintained its original charm but has thrived, as Tim Schulz noted in his return visit. The picturesque views of the Olympic mountains on clear days add a breathtaking backdrop to your dining experience, making it an excursion your taste buds—and your eyes—won't forget.
In summary, if you're in Port Townsend, Spruce Goose Cafe is a must-visit. Whether it’s for a weekend brunch with mimosas or a quick weekday lunch, this cafe brings together great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and an unbeatable view, making it one of the area’s hidden gems. “ A local favorite and rightly so. Great food selection for all 3 daily meals. The French toast, omelets, and pancakes we ordered were excellent. Fun to watch the private aircraft takeoff and land. Great prices. ”
“ The food is good, the atmosphere is unique (since you're at the airport) and upbeat, and the service is quick and friendly. There is a children's play area outside with a teeter-totter airplane for five or six kids. The park is dog friendly. They have a pot roast weekly that is just heavenly. Perfect comfort food. The club is excellent! Another comfort food, that I love and they don't disappoint is, the biscuits and gravy. ”
“ I came back to the spruce goose for the first time in a little while and found out that it was under new ownership. It's currently thriving, and is my favorite place in PT for lunch. On a clear day you can see through the valley and up to the Olympic mountains, and watch planes take off that have some of the best and most reasonably priced food in the area. I highly recommend stopping by this Port. Townsend gem. ”
“ Great spot! Recently bought by new owners and I can’t believe we had not been before! Gorgeous Sunday breakfast with mimosas. Forgot photos of food but a cool view of incoming planes ”
“ Absolutely love this place! The food is on point and the price for the food makes it even better. I got a chicken fried steak meal for under 20 and it was delicious. I feel like it’s so hard to find that fish under 20 anywhere you go! The atmosphere is so cute with all the planes too. I’ll be going back to try lunch as the lunch menu was fair and look d good too ”
“ My husband and I brought of two young kids and sat outside and watched the airplanes take off and land. The food was great and the staff were very friendly, we would definitely come back when we are in the area again. We really enjoyed being there ”
“ We visited the cafe because of the good reviews. We weren’t disappointed. Imagine being able to fly into the Jefferson County International Airport and share a meal at this quaint Cafe. We drove to the cafe but one can dream! We enjoyed watching the planes fly in and out of the airfield while we were there. There are model airplanes hanging from the ceiling with other memorabilia on the walls. A Christmas tree occupied one corner. The ambiance was nice cozy and comfortable. The children enjoyed looking at all of the memorabilia and the were given gliders to assemble which we brought outside to fly. They also offer for purchase, posters and the glass with their logo. The employees were so patient and kind. We were also given good selection tips. The children started out with a vanilla and a chocolate shake. They were enormous! Their eyes got so big when the waitress set them down on the table. Ecstatic was an understatement! They enthusiastically started to devour them and from the smiles on their faces, they were extremely delicious. My friend got the Runway Reuben. She said it was the best Reuben that she has ever eaten. The Monte Cristo was also very good! I had the fish and chips. The fish was crispy and delicious and the fries were good too. I wasn’t a fan of the coleslaw that came with the fish and chips. We finished off the meal with a slice of Apple Pie and Ice Cream and a slice of a berry pie with ice cream. Both were wonderful! Picky eater ratings: Off of the children’s menu, grilled cheese and chicken tenders! Both scored high marks along with those milkshakes. The cafe was neat and clean. There is the option to dine outside and during cold months the outside area is covered. There is a nice playground on the side of the cafe that was enjoyed by the children. There was a sign on the drive to the cafe that said the restaurant was for sale. Someone snatch up this little gem and don’t let it close! Happy Flying and Eating! ”
“ All 5 stars well-earned. Service was prompt, the food was great, and the waitresses were friendly. We were able to sit outside and watch planes land and take off. Very cool little location, very recommendable. Thank you for a nice afternoon. ”
